Directions to STAGS HEAD from Washington, D.C. and the Maryland Suburbs

Go north on I-270

Follow I-270 north to I-70 west at Frederick

Get into the right lane and take the first exit onto 340 towards Harpers Ferry. Follow this road for about 15 miles or so until you cross the Potomac and then recross the Shenandoah.

Keep going Follow Rt 340 for about 3 miles until you come to the junction for Route 230 north and go right towards Shepherdstown.

230 curves to the left and you will shortly come to a STOP sign at which point, bear right, follow on for 6.9 miles to another STOP sign and you should continue on to the right. This is still Rt 230 North.

Follow Rt 230 north for 2 4/10 miles as it weaves through Shepherdstown and up German Street (the main little street) to a 4 way stop sign at the top which is Route 480 north.

Go right on Rt 480 north for 1/10 of a mile and at the bottom of the hill take the left fork (if you continue straight you would go over the bridge into Maryland) This road is called Shepherd Grade Road.

Follow Shepherd Grade Road for about 1.6 miles and take a left on to Scrabble Road (there is also a sign directing you towards a wildlife viewing area)

Follow Scrabble Road for approximately 1.9 miles and take a left and you will still be on Scrabble Road (there is a sign for the wildlife viewing area here as well).

Follow Scrabble Road for another 2.4 miles and take a left on Greensburg Road. (There is a sign just before on the right for "Barbara's Country Hair Care"!) Follow Greensburg Road for 0.9 miles and the house is on the left.

Take I-66 to the Dulles Toll Road, Route 267

Take the Dulles Toll Road to the Greenway Toll Road to the end.

Follow Rt 7 for 4 3/10 miles to Route 9, exit at Route 9 and go right.

Follow Rt 9 for 9 9/10 miles and go right on Route 671 north which is a Y junction after you have gone through the town of Hillsboro.

Follow Rt 671 for 7 5/10 miles to the end and go left on to Route 340 towards Harpers Ferry.

Follow Rt 340 for 4 2/10 miles to the Junction for Route 230 north and go right towards Shepherdstown. From there, see directions above.
